whoever gets this first wins

Tyson from Eriffs stopped by this afternoon and as usual we dorked out and talked iphones and technology, but it didn’t stop there. We went as far as discussing the other new phones that are coming out which lead up to an hour spent looking up smokes phone and figuring out where we could get one at once.
They just released them over in China and it goes for a mere $250 but you have to purchase them in places like Tai Pei at the night markets. Well that wasn’t going to work for us so that obviously lead into an ebay search that produced a great finding of one available through an auction from HK and the phone is only at $211!! What a letdown though when we saw that it was spelled Marlbara:(

Peep the photos below.

HOLY SHIT THAT’S GNARLY!

Captured from the headlines:

“Two Bulgarian teenagers were rescued from a circus in Italy after one of them was forced to swim in a tank full of piranhas for public amusement this week. The girl emerged safely from her ordeal, but the younger of the two sisters, who was 16, was bitten when the circus placed her in a cage and threw snakes at her. Three Italian men were arrested in the case, and have been charged with forcing the girls to live as virtual slaves paying them 100 euros each week and forcing them to live in an animal transport trailer.”

Russia’s dark cinema

Caught this clip on Monster Brains Blog this morning and now I am dead set on making my way to Scarecrow video to rent this masterpiece for viewing over the weekend. I love the dark themes in a lot of the Russian cinema and this is a great example of why.

Viy Spirit of Evil
as quoted from wiki:
“a horror short story by the Russian-Ukrainian writer Nikolai Gogol, first published in the first volume of his collection of tales entitled Mirgorod (1835). The title refers to the name of a demonic entity central to the plot.” And I saw mention in the article that a remake of this film is due for release in 2009 to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Gogol’s birth! Hopefully they don’t use any cgi.

If you are into this you should also check out the film Alice by Jan Svankmajer.

I viewed this a couple weeks back with a special someone and absolutely loved it. The special effects are to die for and the dark costumes, props and sets are incredible.

Koreans are weird…

Don’t worry… I’m only halfway weird.

If you’re ever in South Korea, make sure you stop and have a drink with Hitler…. at the Hitler Bar in Busan.

When the owner was asked what he was thinking when he named his bar he replied…

“I wanted to design a beer bar with something shocking that would attract the young generation. Beer got me thinking about Germany (the home of beer) which made me think of Hitler,he is no different than Alexander the Great or Gengis Khan. They were all conquerors who killed many people and they are all big men in the sense of their notoriety living on long after they died.”

Nazis are the first thing I think of when I think of beer…. syke!
What a wacko.
